A message to our customers, Facebook friends and followers
We hope that you are managing to make the transition to the new “normal”.
You may remember that we told you in a previous post that we had received a letter from the council’s planners towards the end of March 2020 informing us that we needed to apply for retrospective “change of use” planning permission for our farm shop’s café area. The twenty-eight day window they gave us to submit our application would be up on the 6th April 2020.
We had asked the council in April 2018, if “change of use” was required, and we had chased them for the answer to this question about this during this period.
We were stunned by the timing of the council’s letters which arrived after 23 months and just as we were trying to understand how we could manage to keep our business going through the corona virus lockdown period. Gaining our original planning permission was very costly – several thousands of pounds. “Change of use” would also incur costs.
Ron and I would now like to update you on our current situation.
The shop and café have remained closed throughout the lockdown period. To elicit support in negotiating the removal of the additional change of use requirement and additional cost at this difficult time, we contacted local MP Virginia Crosbie who “noted” our comments and was “sorry to learn of the problems ……… experienced with the Planning Dept at Ynys Môn County Council” and Rhun ap Iorwerth, the Assembly Member for Plaid Cymru, who has agreed to visit the farm shop find out more.
It is, now, with regret that Ron and I are informing you that, since we are unable to open the café -which brings in a large proportion of our income – we will not be re-opening at all.
I will continue to blog to keep in touch with as many of you as possible as we emerge from this strange period. So many of our customers have become friends – it would be so sad to lose touch. If you would like us to receive the blog and updates from us, please let us have your email and your permission to email you.
We will also continue to post on Facebook. So you can also keep in touch with us there.
Once again, stay safe and our very best wishes xx
